Shane Cooke (4) and Luke Penman (3) grabbed the goals as Cardea FC beat Diesel Power 7-0 at Bushfield.

Cardea were quick out of the blocks and one up inside three minutes. Aaron Yeoman's pass found Penman on the edge of the box and the striker drove it home.

The lead was doubled on thirteen minutes with Cooke scoring his first of the game. It came from a Yeoman pass and Cooke went in for a 50/50 with the keeper, came out on top and slotted home.

Five minutes later and it was the same combination doing the damage. A Yeoman corner was met by the head of Cooke, the header was cleared off the line but Cooke bundled in the clearance off his chest.

Cooke picked up a booking for sliding in late on the keeper trying to replicate his first goal.

Yeoman nearly got on the scoresheet himself midway through the first period when his free kick on the edge of the box was tipped wide.

Cooke nearly wrapped up his hat-trick in memorable fashion as he picked up a long throw from Dale Moore and volleyed a great shot goal-wards but the crossbar came to Diesel Power's rescue and kept the score at 3-0.

Cooke did get his hat-trick before half time and it came from another tackle on the goalkeeper. This time John Reddell played the ball through and Cooke won the challenge and scored his first hat-trick of the season.

Cardea picked up where they left off in the second half when Anthony Kiernan found Penman in the area who finished from a tight angle to make it 5-0.

Yeoman and Cooke combined again for the sixth. The Cardea number 10 crossed the ball in and Cooke volleyed past the goalkeeper for his forth.

Yeoman got his fifth assist of the game when he passed to Penman and the striker finished well into the top corner to round off the scoring.

Cardea keeper Gav Sampson had a busy last 10 minutes as he produced some great saves to preserve his clean sheet.

After the game joint manager Craig Robinson said: "Good solid win after the Xmas break. Dominated the game from the first minute and wasn't threatened until Gav had to make 3 good saves In the last 10 minutes. Defence didn't need to get out of first gear, Reddell and Gav controlled the midfield leaving Yeoman in his pretty pink boots to pull the stings and claim 5 assists.

"Penman and Cookie stretched them at every opportunity , well done on the 7 goals between you. MOTM is hard between Penman , Cookie and Yeoman and I can't choose so I'll leave it up to Kev to decide!

Next weeks the biggest game of the season!"

Kev Webster added: "Good easy game after the Christmas break, was a nice little run out ready for next weeks cup game. Not much we can say about today's game, created a lot of chances and on another day might have hit double figures.

"Well done to Shane with his four goals and Penman with his hat trick. It was a tough call for man of the match but I will give it to Yeoman for the way he was pulling the strings with his five assists and other chances he created. His poor free kick and horrible taste in boots nearly cost him it but he did play well.

"Gav S stayed alert to keep that clean sheet with some good saves. Was a shame to lose both Tommy B and Rob in the warm up, hope these injuries are not too serious and will be back soon. Big game next week so rest up. Do me a favour, if it bloody rains all week keep quiet!!"

As both managers eluded to next week is the massive Cardea FC vs Cardea Reserves Hunts Cup semi final.
