Cardea FC (4-1-3-2): Gavin Sampson; Anthony Kiernan, Dale Moore, Tony Harper, Ryan Moore; Aaron Yeoman, Shane Cooke, Mark Baines; Luke Penman, Rob Ames, Alex Goymour. Subs: Jamie Rimes, Dom Goymour.
Cardea started with a totally different back 4 to the team which beat Netherton and Alconbury took advantage early on scoring twice inside 90 seconds.
When Cardea finally found their feet it was the opposition keeper who pulled off some great saves to send the visitors in 2-0 up at half time.
After half time Cardea pushed for goals and after Cooke was fouled in the area Yeoman converted a penalty with 35 minutes to play.
As much as Cardea pressed for an equaliser the Alconbury keeper would not be beaten in open play, even when he was beaten the crossbar came to their rescue.
At the other end Sampson kept the Alconbury score at 2 with some important saves as the visitors counter attacked to seal the game. Sampson also saved a penalty in the 90th minute.
Not to be on the day for the first team but the reserves beat ICA Columbo 4-2 to ensure there is Cardea representation in the semi finals.
