Cardea made a fast start to the game and were ahead within 3 minutes. A ball over the top from Williams was met by Penman who lobbed the ball over the keeper and into the net from just outside the area.

Cardea were two up on 18 minutes. Yaxley ran the ball out of defence and chipped a pass to Alex Goymour who ran down the right and put a great ball into the area which was turned into his own net by a P&L defender.

It was 3-0 before half time with Goymour again involved passing a ball through to Ames in the area and the striker smashed a great shot past the keeper into the top of the net.

After half time the goals continued to come for the Premier division side. Cooke played in Ames and he grabbed his second of the game and his sixth of the season as he poked the ball past the keeper.

Goal number 5 came midway through the half, Uglow played the ball through to Penman who slid in at the near post for his second of the game.

Cardea had chances to increase their lead but Yeoman hit the post from a free kick and Williams was denied a great vollied goal by a good save from the keeper.

P&L pulled a goal back from the penalty spot following a foul in the area by Williams.

But it was left to Penman to finish off the scoring and complete his hat-trick as Uglow again played him through and the striker did a step over and struck the ball early past the keeper at his near post.

The match finished 6-1 and Cardea progress to the next round of the PFA Senior Cup.

After the game manager Craig Robinson said: "A good comfortable and controlling morning in horrible conditions. We kept the ball very well and picked good passes going forward. Baines alongside Yeoman and Shane in midfield controlled the tempo from the first whistle and we fully deserved the 6-1 score line.

"Congratulations to the front 2 on scoring the goals. My MOTM was Alex for his work rate especially in the first half, he was a constant threat on the wing and produced plenty of dangerous crosses. Well done on progressing to the next round."

It's back to league action next week for Cardea as they play Limetree at Fulbridge Road.
