It was a tight opening period but Cardea broke the deadlock 17 minutes in thanks to the nose of Ryan Moore. Luke Penman crossed the ball into the box and Moore originally missed his header, the ball came out to Dean Giglio who hit it goal wards and the ball went in off the face of Moore.

Daryn Whiteman finally added a second after half an hour when he headed in a Moore throw in. Whiteman had a couple of great chances from set pieces earlier in the game but was denied by the Parkside defenders and goalkeeper on both occasions.

Cardea scored two late goals in the first half to go in 4-0 up at half time. Firstly Penman hit a shot underneath the keeper and then Shane Cooke found Aaron Yeoman in the area and his hit went through the net (due to the dodgy goal netting not the power in his strike).

At half time Adam Simons, Daniel Robinson and Kieran Hart came on for Cardea. Robinson and Hart made an instant impact as they combined well and Hart smashed the ball into the net.

Parkside pulled a goal back an hour into the match with a neat chip over the goalkeeper but Cardea struck straight back as Hart found Simons in the area to sidefoot past the goalkeeper.

Cardea added the 7th with 15 minutes to go. A great outside of the foot pass from Whiteman found Penman in the area and he smashed the ball past the keeper at his near post.

Parkside scored a late consolation from a corner after some confusion with the offside rule.

The game finished 7-2 and Luke Penman was awarded man of the match.

Next week it is Cardea vs Parkside again, this time with Cardea Reserves taking on the Parkside first team.
