A surprise withdrawal from the league by South Lincs Swifts combined with an equally surprising 5-5 draw between Hampton United and Whittlesey Dev set Stanground Cardea a target of 58 points to win the league.

Ramsey put on a superb defensive display in the first half to repel attack after attack from Stanground Cardea. Multiple corners were well defended with goal line clearances and important headers.

However the deadlock was broken just before half time a clipped ball forward was worked between Webb and Hibbins before it fell on the edge of the area to Jamie Cogings who struck it first time round the keeper and into the side netting for a great finish to make it 1-0.

It was a nervy second half as Stanground Cardea looked to secure the title with a win and those nerves grew when a Rob Ames penalty was saved by the Ramsey keeper.

But as the game entered stoppage time a corner was sent in and, with his second attempt, Gianni Forcellati struck a fantastic volley into the top corner to win the game in style.
