But a decision to give Oakham Reserves a penalty saw Stanground Cardea keeper Charlie Beck seeing red for two cases of dissent. Stanground Cardea were lucky to have last seasons keeper on the bench after Paul Smith returned to the club in the week, although Oakham did convert from 12 yards.
Stanground Cardea reacted well and ensured they still went into the break with a two goal lead after Trey West nodded in a George Staggs set piece.
