Stilton ease to 3 points against a tired Cardea side

Cardea faced Stilton in their 4th game in 12 days and tiredness was starting to show with Stilton being the more comfortable and fitter team. This wasn't helped in the 2nd minute when Stilton took the lead, a cross coming in from the left hand side wasn't dealt with in the area and it fell to Stilton's Andrew Bradley who half volleyed into the top left corner, 1-0.

The remainder of the first half was end to end stuff with neither side breaking down the oppositions defence, this was becoming frustrating for Stilton along with the questionable decisions the referee was making which seemed to be going in the away sides favour which led to Stilton having a player sin-binned in the 40th minute for some choice words towards the match official.

HT: Stilton United 1-0 Cardea

The start of the second half was very well managed by Stilton's experienced players while they were holding out until the sin-binned player was allowed to return to the field of play after a further 6 minutes punishment. Cardea started to grow into the game by creating some good periods of attacking play but nothing to worry the Stilton back line.

Frustration began to kick in again and Stilton Defender Dan Stephens received a yellow card in the 58th minute.

In the 69th minute, centre back Michael Williams had to make way following a very late challenge which was not dealt with and this proved vital 2 minutes later when Lewis McManus doubled the home sides advantage after some good play but equally sloppy defending.

The game was wrapped up 4 minutes later when a corner was delivered into the Cardea area and Dan Stephens rose highest to convert the header and sealed the result.

There was still time for Cardea to create their best chance of the night, Klinkovics being played through 1 on 1 only to be denied by the Stilton who had a quite evening.

FT: Stilton United 3-0 Cardea

After the game, Junior Jones said "To concede so early on didn't help at all but we were beaten tonight by the more experienced and fitter side, although Stilton deserved the win i do think 3-0 flatters Stilton as i'm sure Chris (Bartlett) would admit. I'd like to mention midfielder Mark Rayment who stepped up from the reserves tonight to make his league debut for the club, he played and battled very week in the centre of the park and i'm sure it won't be long before he steps up again. Moving on, we now need to dust ourselves down and go again on Saturday against Sutton Bridge United and then have 7 days rest instead of another midweek game"

Man of the Match was James Ware for a terrific performance in midfielder, he battles hard, run more than anyone on the pitch and was the focal point in our promising attacks tonight, picking up the ball in between the lines.
