CARDEA HAMMER GLINTON & NORTHBOROUGH

After a scrappy first 30 minutes, which saw a lot of falls from players adjusting to the slippery pitch, Glinton took the lead with a good finish from a breakaway attack.

This sparked Cardea into life and from a Kyle Ginns corner Cam Hibbins finished to score on his full debut for the team.

The score line was turned on it's head two minutes later when Klinkovics found Ryley Nicholson-Barfoot through on goal and his right foot effort was saved by the keeper but his left footed shot on the rebound found the net. Not bad for a player with "only one foot".

A third was added before half time and it was the same combination of Klinkovics and Ryley Nicholson-Barfoot again to make it 3-1.

After half time Cardea continued the scoring with Hibbins holding the ball up well in the box and finding Thomas Klinkovics in space who took his time and made no mistake with the finish.

In the 65th minute Nicholson-Barfoot sent a free kick into the box which was headed over the keeper and into the net by Martyn Fox.

Ten minutes later and it was a hat-trick for Ryley Nicholson-Barfoot after his tucked home a cross from Staggs, his third hat-trick in the last 3 games he's played.

As the game entered the last 10 minutes the goals kept coming, a stray defensive pass found Josh Staggs 20 yards out and he struck a great shot over the keeper.

The 8th goal was scrappy, a free kick was sent into the box and between Dan Richmond and Martyn Fox the ball was bundled over the line with Fox claiming the goal.

The scoring was wrapped up in the 90th minute when a Klinkovics free kick was parried and Josh Staggs finished from a tight angle.

A superb win for Cardea after a very slow start keeps Peterborough City in reach at the top of the table.

Next up Cardea are due to play FC Peterborough Reserves, although they might now be in cup action after their game was postponed today.
