Cardea made a great start to the game and opened the scoring in the 4th minute. Mark Rayment crossed the ball into the box and Thomas Klinkovics headed into the back of the net to reopen his Cardea goalscoring with 8 now needed for a century of goals.

The number was down to 7 in the 24th minute, good work from Woods on the right found Thomas Klinkovics 25 yards out and he took a touch and curled the ball over the keeper and into the net to make it 2-0.

Cardea looked to have won a penalty in the 34th minute as Mead played the ball to Klinkovics in the box and the defender brought Klink down leading to the ref awarding a spot kick.

However the Long Sutton linesman adjudged Mead to be offside in the build up.

On the stroke of half time Long Sutton reduced the deficit with a well worked goal from the left and a tap in from 6 yards.

After half time Cardea had chances to put the game to bed but some good goalkeeping denied Cardea what should have been a few more goals.

In the 66th minute Long Sutton scored an equaliser against the run of play with a deflected effort which went into the far corner.

Cardea pushed and pushed for a winner but a couple of goal line clearances meant a point on the road to kick off the season.

The man of the match was between the two Cardea fullbacks with Max Woods picking up the award for a very composed display both in defence and attack.

The games come thick and fast in August with a visit to Stilton on Wednesday evening to take on ex Cardea manager James Ware's team.
