CARDEA WIN THE HUNTS SUNDAY CUP

Following a nervy opening 20 minutes, Cardea scored the opener from a set piece.

A corner was swung in from the right and headed on by Hibbins to the back post where Mark Rayment volleyed in from close range.

Up the other end there was almost an equaliser when the Atletico number 6 turned on the edge of the area and shot just wide.

After half time Cardea took control of the game and two quickfire goals secured the win.

Firstly in the 53rd minute Josh Staggs closed the keeper down and blocked his kick, running onto the ball to tap into an empty net.

Four minutes later and it was 3-0. Cam Hibbins played the ball to Kieran Hibbins who drove in from the left beating a couple of defenders and lashing a shot past the keeper.

Cardea added a fourth in the 88th minute when Ed Sakovich pounced on a loose clearance and his first time effort curled into the corner.

Atletico pulled a goal back late on in stoppage time but Cardea would not be denied.

A 4-1 win to secure the cup and make it three Hunts Sunday Cups in the club's history and two in the last three years.

Man of the match was awarded to Mark Rayment for a dominant performance in midfield as well as his goal.
