Cardea FC have made a solid start to the Division 1 season and that has mainly been down to a strong defence and the performances of Williams have particularly caught the eye.

The defender has picked up two man of the match awards in the opening month of the season.

First team manager Matt Robinson said: "Willy has been absolutely superb at the back all month alongside Tom and DB. The form he has been in has helped us get off to a solid start in the new division. His motm display against Kings Cliffe was a particular highlight. Well done!"

For the reserves the award was awarded to a player up the other end of the pitch. Ollie Goymour scored four goals and provided three assists as the reserves made a great start to life in Division 4.

Goymour also picked up the man of the match award twice in August.

Reserves assistant manager Louie Cooper said: "Ollie has been unplayable so far this season and his link up play has been second to none. Changed the game first game of the season with a brilliant strike and that set the tone for the following games. Fully deserved and hope his form continues! Well done"
