1. Club History

Cardea FC were formed in 2012, starting out in the Sunday PM Football League, taking over from the underachieving Eastfield Tigers.

For the 2013/14 season, the club decided for a change and entered the Peterborough Sunday Morning Football League, this was a success as Cardea lifted the Division 3 title and made it back to back league wins in 2014/15 as they also took the Division 2 crown.

Such was the quality of the squad and the success achieved, the club applied to enter the Peterborough & District Football League in the 11th tier of English Football's National League System.

2016/17 saw Cardea leave the Sunday sides to enjoy their football without a pressure on them and begun Saturday football in PDFL Division 4. The decision was followed by the club carrying on the success over the years and in the first season, achieved promotion as well as winning a cup double, The PFA Minor Cup and The Huntingdonshire Lower Junior Cup.

2019/20 was cut short due to Covid-19 although this did not stop a 4th consecutive promotion in 4 year period. Cardea were promoted on a Points-Per-Game basis after the season curtailed in March 2020 and were still in the Quarter Final of the newly formed PDFL Cup Competition.

2020/21 was also cut short with a vote to curtail the season due to Covid-19 still causing problems worldwide with Cardea keeping their place in the Premier Division for the following season.

At the end of the 2021/22 season Cardea firsts merged with the reserves and will play in Division 2 in the 2022/23 season. On Sundays the first team met the Reserves in the Hunts Cup final with the Firsts emerging victorious and claiming the county cup.

The 2022/23 was a great season for the club with the Saturday Firsts, managed by Michael Norris, winning the league by 11 points and gaining promotion back to Division 1. The Sunday Firsts were runners up in the Hunts Cup final.

We are a family-orientated community football club and believe in giving young footballers the opportunity to step up into adult football and progress. Most of our players live locally and have an affinity with the area and this we believe is hugely significant in local football.

Above all, we aim to play attractive, passing football in a manner that excites and draws the crowds and we are determined to show that you can get results and achieve success whilst maintaining these principles.
