Cardea Reserves made it three wins out of three with a 5-0 home victory over Leverington Sports A.

Cardea Reserves (4-2-3-1): Bradley Kirchin; Luke Franklin, Stuart Yaxley, Tom Hunt, Gianluca Spataro; Michael Norris, Mark Rayment; Nick Redhead, James Roberts, Ollie Goymour; Dom Goymour. Subs: Aaron Lewis, Jamie Baxter, Alex Goymour, Matt Smith, James Phillips.

After slow starts in the opening two league games this week was totally different as the hosts were two up inside the opening 10 minutes.

After just 25 seconds James Roberts intercepted a poor kick from the Leverington keeper and he finished well into the bottom corner. Minutes later Ollie Goymour played a piercing ball through the defence and Dom Goymour kept up his good form with a cool finish.

Cardea picked up a couple of injuries early on in the match with Spataro (clash of heads) and Rayment (twisted ankle) being replaced by Aaron Lewis and Jamie Baxter.

Despite this Cardea continued to press forward and the Goymours combined again to make it 3-0 after 30 minutes. Dom taking his tally to 6 in 3 after Ollie provided the assist.

A couple of minutes later Roberts was brought down in the box and a penalty was awarded. Dom Goymour stepped up for his hat-trick but his effort smashed off the top of the crossbar and over.

Cardea continued to create good chances with Phillips and Smith both having opportunities to add to the Cardea lead but the home team had to wait until midway through the half to score a fourth and it came from Alex Goymour.

Having picked up an injury in pre-season forcing him out of the opening two fixtures Alex made his way off the bench and showed he hadn’t lost his goal scoring ability, latching onto a Norris through ball, he made no mistake and found the bottom corner.

Alex Goymour also had a big hand in the fifth and final goal of the match. Running through the defence, he clashed with the goalkeeper and the ball ricocheted to the defender who smashed into the top corner for a very unlucky finish!

At the other end of the pitch Cardea keeper Kirchin had been well protected by his back four all game but when they were breached he produced a great one on one save to preserve his clean sheet, his first of the season.

FT: Cardea Reserves 5-0 Leverington Sports A

The end result all meant that Cardea are now 3 wins from 3 games in Division 4, having scored 19 goals and conceded 3.

After the game assistant manager Louie Cooper said: "Well done to the lads, they went out and did what we asked of them, kept concentration throughout the entire game. Dom should have had his first half hat-trick which would have been fully deserved with his recent form. Yax lead the defence and deservedly gets MOTM.

"It's always nice to see the subs making an impact from the bench, especially leading up to what could be our toughest game of the season next week against Stanground and i'm sure all the lads look forward to taking the momentum in to that game."

Next up for the reserves is potentially their toughest game of the season against title favourites Stanground Sports at Queens Park.
