Cardea reverted to a back 5 with Travis Brown and Kieron McKenna as full backs.
The midfield three was captain John Reddell, John Danskin, who was making his first start this season and Mark Rayment, who was called up after a series of impressive performances for the reserves.
Up front was Thomas Klinkovics and Ash Baldwin, the latter making his final regular appearance for Cardea due to a change in jobs.
It was an even opening 30 minutes as both teams set about working out the oppositions formations.
It was Cardea who opened the scoring in the 34th minute after being awarded a penalty. Klinkovics forced a handball in the area and Ash Baldwin stepped up to break the deadlock.
As half time approached Cardea doubled their lead. A long searching ball forward from Reddell was controlled magnificently by Klinkovics, his touch taking him away from three defenders and he coolly finished a 1 on 1 with the keeper.

Cardea continued their good attacking play in the second half and added a third on the hour mark. Good work on the left by Klinkovics saw him make his way into the area and Cardea players were queuing up to score, the ball was played to Ash Baldwin who found the top corner.
With 10 minutes to go Cardea won a corner which Dandrilli swung in and Dan Baldwin looped his header back over the keeper and into the net. A momentous moment for the defender as it was his first goal for the club, it's also a goal which could mean the end for DB's impressive beard, with the centre back vowing to go clean shaven when he next scores.
There was nearly a shock goal for Andrew James, the defender was told to go on and defend but somehow found himself on the edge of the opposition box and striking the bar with a good effort.
In the last 5 minutes Eye pulled a couple of goals back to give the score a bit of respectability but the 3 points were never in doubt.
FT: Cardea FC 4-2 Eye United
The win takes Cardea to within 3 points of the top of the league in their debut Division 1 season.
After the game coach Junior Jones said: "We had a game plan today against a very good Eye side who obviously beat us in the cup. The game plan seemed to frustrate them a lot and we were very disciplined for a large proportion of the game. I can’t fault anyone on today’s performance but I have to mention Danskin and Tom who stood out in this superb victory"
Next up for Cardea is an away trip up the A1 to play Stamford Bels.
