Cardea FC (4-2-3-1): James Wilson; Travis Brown, Tom Rimes, Michael Williams, Sam Cope; Nathan Ginty, John Reddell; Antonio Esposito, Ash Baldwin, Kieran Hart; Thomas Klinkovics. Subs: James Ware, Dan Hook, Martin Holyoak, Dan Baldwin.
Both of last seasons fixtures against Premiair were very tight affairs, and ended in draws. This game wasn’t to be the same.
Only 2 minutes had passed when some good work on the right hand side gave Ash Baldwin a sight of goal, the attacking midfielder found Kieran Hart unmarked to his left and the striker finished superbly.
The same combination only four minutes later made it 2-0. This time Hart had more to do and controlled the ball and beat his man all in one movement before shooting across goal and in to the bottom corner.
Cardea continued their hard press and on 11 minutes made it 3-0! Debutant Nathan Ginty played a superb cross field pass to last seasons top scorer Thomas Klinkovics who volleyed over the oncoming keeper to leave Premiair shell shocked.
Ash Baldwin notched his third assist of the game mid way through the half when he found Klinkovics in the area who coolly finished past the keeper.
Cardea’s fourth goal led to a response from the Premiair bench. Two substitutions and a change of shape in order to counter the Cardea onslaught.
The change did the job and Premiair got more of a foot on the ball. Within 6 minutes they were able to cut the Cardea lead with a well timed run and finish.
The rest of the half was much tighter and as the wind picked up, the game became scrappy.
There was still enough time for Cardea to threaten again, forcing the Premiair keeper into a good stop. The rebound falling quickly to Klinkovics who could only roll the ball wide from the edge of the area.

The second half started in a similar style to the end of the first with the wind, now against Cardea, affecting play.
Against the wind, it was Cardea who scored next and it was a hat-trick for Kieran Hart. The striker picked the ball up from Sam Cope just inside the Premiair half and drove down the line. His cross/shot beating the keeper at his near post.
Captain John Reddell then got in on the act after substitute Dan Hook, another debutant, found him free inside the area. The veteran finished calmly despite pressure from Klinkovics who was the closest man to him and was desperate for a hat-trick of his own.
As the game came towards an end Cardea started to tire and made a couple of changes to see the game out, the changes couldn’t prevent a resurgent Premiair who managed to add a couple of goals, both very well finished past the excellent James Wilson.

After the game, a delighted Cardea manager Matt Robinson said “A great win against our rivals Premiair today and a fantastic way to start life in Division 1. We effectively killed the game off within 20 minutes and were the better team until we got tired in the last 10. Now we have to move on quickly and make sure we are ready for our midweek fixture against Eunice.
"MOTM was awarded to Kieran Hart for his hat-trick. His first 2 goals were superb and he deserved his luck with the third. The timing of the goals meant that Premiair weren’t able to build any momentum and his work rate and direct style caused havoc all game! Well done!"
The games come thick and fast for Cardea with a evening kick off versus Eunice on Wednesday at Middletons Road before travelling to Kings Cliffe on Saturday for the first away game of the season.
