Cardea smash nine past Spalding Athletic in car crash second half for the hosts.

Cardea FC (3-4-1-2): James Wilson; Martin Holyoak, Tom Rimes, Michael Williams; Jake Falco, John Reddell, Aaron Yeoman, Sam Cope; Ash Baldwin; Mike Dandrilli, Thomas Klinkovics. Subs: Kyl Ramsey, Travis Brown, Daniel Baldwin.

The day started well for Cardea with coach Junior Jones Eyre crashing into striker Michael Dandrilli’s rear end at a roundabout much to the amusement of everyone in the group chat.

Cardea started the game slowly and were far too slow to press Spalding in the first 10 minutes. The start cost Cardea the opening goal as they went 1-0 down. A mix up between defender and goalkeeper led to a pass being intercepted and the opposition striker rounded Wilson in goal and rolled into the empty net.

This woke Cardea up and it was almost 1-1 straight away as Williams headed the ball across goal for Klinkovic who finished superbly, only to be ruled out for offside.

Gentle, giant, ginger centre back Tom Rimes pulled up injured whilst tracking his man and was immediately replaced by Dan Baldwin in the centre of defence.

Soon, the Cardea pressure told and it was 1-1. An excellent Aaron Yeoman strike from range beat everyone and went into the bottom corner of the goal, leaving the keeper with no chance.

Just two minutes later it was 1-2 Cardea. A great bit of football at the back unleashed Klinkovics out wide who beat his man and squared for the grateful Ash Baldwin to smash in from close range

It could have been three when a couple of flicks in midfield sent top scorer Klinkovics through 1 on 1, only for the ball to bobble as he hit the ball and end up flying miles high and wide.

It was eventually 3 for Cardea before half time when a Yeoman shot from a corner was met by a Willy flick and Ash arrived at the back to put it in.

On the hour mark Cardea made a substitute which saw the return of Travis Brown. The full back trying to match winger and lover Antonio Esposito in the “number of holidays a year award”. Brown has clearly learnt something on his travels and his first touch was a header! #Scenes.

Cardea added their fourth after a long throw wasn’t dealt with. Michael Dandrilli miscontrolled the ball which popped up for Aaron Yeoman to smash into the top corner on the he volley. A contender for goal of the season and the midfielder is now an internet sensation after the video was shared on social media.

On numerous occasions this season, Cardea have stopped pushing for goals in this situation however after a warning from the management that they wouldn’t be allowed to take their foot off the gas this time around, they added a fifth. Great work out wide saw Klinkovics round the goal keeper and once again square for Ash Baldwin. Baldwin took a touch and put the ball in from 1 yard out.

Klinkovics finally added his name to the score sheet after a good diagonal ball from Travis Brown fell nicely. The striker took his chance superbly before celebrating. 1-6.

Now for the drama. After the referee awarded Cardea a penalty in the 77th minute, the Spalding keeper shouted abuse towards him, earning himself a straight red for his troubles. This did not go down well with the keeper and he through his captains armband at the referee as he exited the pitch. Aaron Yeoman slotted the penalty away calmly to complete his hat-trick and make the score 7-1 to the away side.

New signing Kyl Ramsey almost grabbed his first Cardea goal but the stand in keeper produced a superb save to deny the ex West Town man a debut goal.

Cardea scored again to make it 8-1 after more good work out wide, the ball fell to Klinkovics who controlled well and passed the ball back into the path of Ash Baldwin to add his fourth of the game.

After loads of hard work and even more moaning, Dandrilli finally added a goal for himself. Klinkovics saw a shot well saved by the replacement keeper but Dandrilli was on hand to tap in the rebound.

FT: Spalding Athletic 1-9 Cardea FC
(Yeoman 3, A. Baldwin 4, Klinkovics, Dandrilli)

The Cardea management got what they asked for in a ruthless attacking display and it made MOTM very difficult to pick. Ash Baldwin just edged it with 4 goals however a very close second was Klinkovics who turned provider today to set up 4 of the 9 goals. It’s not often a player gets a hat-trick and isn’t mentioned so it would also be unfair not to praise the performance of Aaron Yeoman.

Next up for Cardea is a home game against Whaplode Drove and the hosts will be looking to avenge a 3-2 defeat earlier in the season.
