Two second half goals give Cardea the win over Parkside

Cardea's pre-season is up and running with a comfortable victory over the division 3 outfit.

Cardea opened their pre-season friendly account with a 3-1 victory over fellow PDFL side Parkside at Bushfield with front men Kieran Hard and Ryan Pickstone scoring the goals in the contest.

Hart converted from close-range after some good battling from Mike Dandrilli in the parkside area in the 8th minute. Parkside then drew level on 26 minutes with a tidy finish from the striker after a defensive mix up in the Cardea back line. Hart scored to regain the lead on 57 minutes after heading home following a good corner from debutant Nathan Ginty.

The game was all but wrapped on 68 minutes when newboy Ryan Pickstone netted on his debut. Some good football and work down the right side by Dandrilli then saw the ball cut back to Pickstone who made no mistake from close range to open his account for the club.

Grant Watson also made his first appearance for the entirety of the second half, keeping a clean sheet.

Assistant Manager Dan Gibbs said: “it was good to get back into things after the break we've had and it was nice to return with a victory and shaking the rust off. Next week, we will be looking to improve on today's performance and we will expect more from the players.”
