Cardea beat rivals Pinchbeck

Cardea Ladies gave 6 debuts to a new look Cardea side along with a new management team led by Paul Clarke.

It was a fairly open first half with the Cardea strikers linking up well but finding the Pinchbeck keeper in good form. It was Pinchbeck that took the lead after a quick break away to make it 1-0.

10 mins later the Cardea strikers linked up well for Coles to score to make it 1-1 assisted by her strike partner Pollard.

As Cardea was pushing for the second goal a few changes was enforced and the loss of Rudd, Ramsaran and Homden meant the shape was lost. This allowed Pinchbeck to overloaded the Cardea defence to make the score 2-1 to the visitors.

With the first half being fairly even it was Pinchbeck that was in the lead at half time.

Half time saw the manager spark some passion back in the girls with a positive team talk, tweak in formation and to get the recovering players back on.

Cardea came out in the second half fired up and within 10 minutes it was 3-2 to the home team. The equaliser came from Pollard who found her strike partner Coles who then turned provider for Pollard to score her first goal for the club.

The new shape in the second half saw O’Sullivan and Rudd control the midfield and protect the back line by mopping up lose ball after lose ball. If anything did slip through the Cardea defence was dealing with the Pinchbeck attacks.

On the hour mark new signing Amanor showed good vision to find Pollard who made it 4-2. This was Cardea’s best move of the game as Skipper Rudd combined with O’Sullivan who found Amanor in space out wide.

There was a brief moment of horror for Cardea as Keeper Carlie Rudd went down with a clash of knee and her nose bleeding but managed to tell everyone she ain’t going off. In typical Rudd stubbornness she carried on with the game.

Cardea was showing a bit more of a relaxed spell and Langa was getting the crowd on their feet with some showboating and a disagreement with the linesman. Langa got a reward for efforts by adding the 5th goal and yet another good assist from Amanor.

The game was wrapped up late in stoppage time with a long throw from Rudd who found Pollard in the box and finished low into the net claiming her hat trick.

Other debutantes for Cardea were Harness, Foley, Homden and Slipper.

Paul Clarke said after the game he was happy with the overall performance especially the fight shown in the second half and thanked all the girls for all their hard work not just today but over pre season.

Next up for Cardea Ladies is a league game at home to Swavesey 2pm kick off Middletons Road Yaxley.
