Cardea were quickest out the traps and almost took the lead when a Mead cross floated over the keeper but rebounded off the post.
It didn't take long for Mead to be pivotal in Cardea taking the lead, he ran down the right and cut the ball back for the City defender to put past his own keeper.
Mead almost doubled the lead moments later but his effort crashed back off the bar and the lead stayed at one.
In the 21st minute Peterborough City had a way back into the game when the referee gave a handball from a corner. The penalty was converted and the sides were level.
Cardea had chances to increase the lead but the keeper denied Nicholson-Barfoot and the post kept out Rayment.
Up the other end City missed a great chance when a header back into the six yard box was missed by the striker on the first attempt before Britton saved the follow up.

A very even second half saw both sides have good chances with the keepers coming out on top.
But the winning goal went City's way as the striker headed a free kick into the bottom corner to end Cardea's winning run.

After a couple of last minute wins in recent weeks Cardea now know what it's like to be on the other end of a late goal but still remain top the league.
